Skin Cancer Prevention

  1. Use sunscreen daily on sun-exposed areas. Apply it at least 15 minutes before exposure to light. Higher SPF numbers are more protective. We recommend that you use a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher sunscreen
  2. Regardless of manufacturers’ claims, we recommend that you reapply sunscreen after swimming and at least every two hours when outdoors.
  3. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirt, and other protective clothing when outside also are helpful in preventing skin cancer.
  4. Avoidance of excessive sunshine is recommended.
