We treat skin diseases and problems of the skin, scalp, hair and nails. Our comprehensive approach to patient health includes full skin exams, which are offered to every patient. Less complicated skin conditions are treated with simple therapies. Serious dermatologic diseases receive the most sophisticated care, including advanced drug treatments and surgical treatment if indicated — all with our signature compassionate caring and individual attention.
Skin Conditions We Treat
Acne
Acne is an extremely common skin condition that develops when hair follicles on the face become clogged with dead skin cells and oil.
Age Spots
Age spots, also known as liver spots or sun spots, are flat, dark areas on the skin that appear due to prolonged sun exposure. They are most common in older adults and usually form on areas like the face, hands, shoulders, and arms. They are harmless and not a sign of any health issues.
Blistering Diseases
A blister is a raised piece of skin that is filled with a clear fluid. They can form anywhere on the body but most commonly on feet or hands. They’re often filled with clear fluid to help them to heal but can also be filled with blood (blood blisters) or pus caused by infection.
Eczema
Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) is principally characterized by dry skin and itchiness. The consequent scratching leads to increased inflammation of the area and further dryness and to further itchiness and scratching: the itch-scratch cycle.
Hives
Hives are red, itchy welts that can appear on the skin in response to an environmental or internal trigger. They can be caused by an allergic reaction to food or medication, a virus, stress, or even heat. Although the cause of hives is not always known, they are usually harmless and go away without treatment.
Hypersensitivity Disorders
Hypersensitivity disorders are conditions where the immune system overreacts to normally harmless substances, like pollen or certain foods, causing symptoms such as allergies, rashes, or even more serious reactions.
Melanoma
Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the cells that produce pigment (melanin). It often appears as an unusual mole or dark spot on the skin and can spread to other parts of the body if not treated early.
Mole Removal
Moles are common. Almost every adult has a few moles. It is normal for new moles to appear during childhood and adolescence.
Nail Diseases
Nail diseases are distinct from diseases of the skin with their own signs and symptoms that may relate to other medical conditions. Nail conditions that show signs of infection or inflammation require medical assistance of a dermatologist.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a long-lasting, non-contagious skin disease. Psoriasis is often characterized by red skin with flaky, silver-white patches called scales.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin disorder involving the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead or eyelids. It may appear as redness, prominent spider-like blood vessels, swelling or skin eruptions similar to acne.
Skin Cancer Screening and Treatment
The most common cancer, skin cancers account for more than two million diagnoses each year in the United States alone. Most Americans are diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma.
Skin Infections
Skin infections may be caused by bacterial, viral and fungal infections and are generally easily treated.
Spider Veins
Spider veins are small, thin blood vessels that appear close to the surface of the skin. They often look like red, blue, or purple web-like lines and usually appear on the legs or face. They are typically harmless but can sometimes cause discomfort.
Warts
Warts are benign (not cancerous) growths caused by a virus that has infected the top layer of skin. Warts are contagious and can be spread by contact with the wart or with something that the wart has touched.
